Designing

After dragging out some of my beadwork necklaces and earrings to put up on my Etsy site, I got all inspired and started back into beadworkery again. :)

I was never really happy with this necklace: I tried too hard to out-clever myself. It's a geometric interleaving pattern I designed myself, but I chose such subtle colours, you can't see the strong geometric design.

Ok so I got to doodling. The design for this necklace is the criss-crossy square in the middlish of my doodles. I really liked the colours I sketched it out in, so I decided to use those colours to make another, less subtle pendant.


















Well, this took a few attempts, as I wasn't happy with the greens I choose at first:















In the end I chose colours I pretty much always end up selecting, but I'm happy with the finished product:















The doodle also shows the design for a multi-panel necklace I made. The spirally designs across the top of the graph paper came out as a black and iris necklace:

I'm not sure if I'll sell or keep these two creations yet.

But as I fell asleep last night I had one of those designs that POPs into the front of your mind as you drift away. I was sure I'd forget it, but no, I still have it. So time to make another interleaving pendant, and not be too clever about the
